Group Management

Learn how to create, search, and manage your travel groups in ComparTrip

Select Active Group

To use the Trips, Status, and Agreements functionalities, you must first select an active group.

  1. Navigate to the "Groups" section from the bottom menu.
  2. Tap on "Select Active Group".
  3. A list of all the groups you belong to will be displayed.
  4. Tap on the group you want to activate.
  5. A confirmation message will be displayed and the selected group will appear at the top of the screen.

Note: You must have an active group to access the Trips, Status, and Agreements sections. The active group will be displayed just above the bottom navigation bar.

Search Available Groups

If you want to join an existing group, you can search for it using different criteria.

  1. In the "Groups" section, tap "Search Available Groups".
  2. Enter the search criteria:
    • Origin: Locality or starting point (optional).
    • Destination: Locality or arrival point (optional).
    • Country: Select the country where the group is located (mandatory).
  3. Tap "Search Group".
  4. A list of groups matching your criteria will be displayed.
  5. Tap on a group to see its details and routes.

Note: You must enter at least an origin or a destination, and a country to perform the search.

Request to Join a Group

When you find a group you want to join, you'll need to send a request that will be reviewed by the group members.

Initial request process

  1. After finding a group of interest, tap on "Request to Join the Group".
  2. You can include a message explaining the reasons for your request (optional).
  3. Tap "Send Request".
  4. The request will be sent to the group members, who can accept, reject, or ignore it.
  5. You will receive a notification when your request is processed.

Temporary restrictions

Important: Join requests are subject to the following rules:

  • If your request is not answered, you must wait 1 full week before you can send a new request to the same group.
  • You have a maximum of 3 attempts to request joining the same group.
  • After exhausting the 3 attempts, you cannot send more requests to that group for 1 full year.

Create New Group

If you don't find a group that suits your needs, you can create a new one:

  1. In the "Groups" section, tap "Create New Group".
  2. Complete the form with:
    • Group name: Identifying name (mandatory).
    • Description: Brief description of the group (optional).
    • Country: Select the country where the group activity takes place (mandatory).
    • Private group: Check this box if you want the group to be private.
  3. Tap "Create Group".

Note: When creating a group, it will automatically become your active group and you will be designated as the administrator.

Edit Group

Once a group is created, you can modify its information:

  1. With the active group selected, tap "Edit Group".
  2. Modify the fields you want:
    • Group name
    • Description
    • Country
    • Privacy
  3. Tap "Update Group".

Note: All group members will receive an email notification informing them of the changes made.

Manage Members

As the creator or administrator of a group, you can manage its members:

  1. With the active group selected, tap "Manage Members".
  2. You will see a list of all current group members.
  3. To remove a member, tap the trash icon next to their name and confirm the removal.
  4. To add a new member, tap "Add New Member", enter their email address, and tap "Add Member".

Important:

  • You cannot remove yourself from the group.
  • You cannot remove a member who has registered trips in the last 3 months.
  • If the entered email corresponds to an already registered user, they will be added directly or reincorporated if they were a former member.
  • If the email is not registered, an invitation will be sent to join ComparTrip and the group.

Manage Routes

Routes are predefined paths that will be used when creating trips in the group:

  1. With the active group selected, tap "Manage Routes".
  2. You will see a list of all routes registered in the group.
  3. To add a new route:
    • Tap "Add New Route".
    • Enter the origin, destination, and miles.
    • Check "Create the inverse as well" if you want to automatically create the return route.
    • Tap "Add Route".
  4. To edit or delete a route, tap on it in the list.

Note: You cannot create routes with the same origin and destination, nor duplicates. If a route has already been used in a trip, you will only be able to view its details, not modify or delete it.

Leave a Group

If you no longer want to belong to a group, you can leave it:

  1. With the active group selected, tap "Leave Group".
  2. A confirmation message explaining the consequences will be displayed.
  3. Confirm your decision.

Important:

  • If you are the last member of the group, all group information will be permanently lost.
  • When leaving a group, you will lose access to all information registered as a user of the group.
  • An email notification will be sent to all group members informing them of your departure.
